Look How Bright The Stars Shine!

Hello!
It's Loti here from the DT with my very first blog tutorial for Tracy, so go easy on me! As many of you may no I design my own stamps, so to have the chance to step away from that and play with Tracy's amazing characters from her incredible imagination was just a joy.

If you follow me on social media, you'll know that my favourite creative outlet right now is to paint in my art journal, which is what I've done for you in my tutorial. This is a little special as I've sliced into it so the characters pop out, which is called a 'dutch door'. This is when the page has been cut down giving the illusion of an actual Dutch Door, those doors that are cut in half horizontally so the top half opens on it's own! I hope you love what I've made.

Materials:
- Art Journal
- Acrylic Block
- Vintage Sepia Versafine Ink Pad
- Acrylograph Paint Pens
- Paint Brush
- Water Brush
- Scissors or Craft Knife
- Heat Tool
- 0.5 Micron Pen
- Distress Oxide Ink Pads (3 blue and 2 green)
- Blending Tool
- Cloud Stencil
To start, ink up the Morty and Margareet with the Versafine, Vintage Sepia ink pad.
Use the acrylic paint pens with water, to colour the characters.
Go around the outline and the details with a 0.5 micron pen.
With a knife or scissors, put along a straight line and the around the top of the image of the characters nose and ears stick out at the top of the dutch door.
Cut down the middle of the journal, and take away the top piece so you are left with the dutch door at the bottom still attached to your journal.
On the page underneath use the clouds stencil to make a dreamy sky background with 3 different shades of blue.
Use your blending tool and a green Distress Oxide to swipe up, making it look like blades of grass across the bottom of the page.
Use a water brush to colour in between the characters so the sky continues with no white patches.
Stamp the background strip from the 'It Was Written In The Stars' stamp set on top of the clouds, in the darkest of the blues you used for the sky.
Stamp out the words from the 'Whispering Sweet Nothings' stamp set onto the spare piece of card you took away earlier and cut it out into a rectangle.
Ink around the outside of the rectangle with one of the blues you used for the clouds, so it ties in nicely.
And your dutch door is complete! I hope you love this techniques and will use it in all your journals with lots of Tracy's characters like I have!
All of the stamps I have used are available here:

Sending crafty hugs, stay safe and have a great week!
