Three Times A Lady ...

Hello Carolyn here, thank you for joining us today.
Following on from my journal cover,  I'm sharing a journal page which was inspired by my daughter turning 21 this week. Oh to be 21 again!!

Anyway I hope you like it, it's easy to do and could easily be made into a card etc.

I've put a list at the bottom of the page of the ingredients.

I'm using an A5 size journal, but you can use any size. I used the GelliArts mini printing plate kit hexagon gel plate and distress ink pads. There's another sample using a round gel plate at the bottom of the page too for ideas. If you don't have a Gelli plate, you could make your own stencil and use a foam pad or brush to put ink into the shape!

On a spare piece of card, ink up the hexagon and print it in the centre. This can be any colour as its just for the shape.

Carefully cut out the shape with a ruler and craft knife to make a template.

Next using your gel plate, pop some gel print shapes onto your journal page, in pink. I used Victoria Velvet Distress Oxide ink for this. Keep the colour light as these will have the images stamped over them. Dry with a heat tool.

I found the best way for an even coverage was to roll the brayer directly onto the ink pad, on one side only, then go to the gel plate and roll lightly a few times. If there's too much ink on the plate roll the brayer over (where there is no ink on it) and it will pick up any excess ink. It might look like there's nothing on it but there is! Do a test piece first if you are unsure.

Place the template over one of the hexagons and stamp your preferred image. To make them interesting you can offset them to one side within the shape.

When the template is removed, the image is contained within the hexagon.

Do the same with your next image, using the template and remembering to place the image to maximise impact.

And lastly do exactly the same in a third hexagon.

To make the background use the same hexagon gel plate and 2 other colours. I used Tattered Rose and Hickery Smoke for a subtle effect. You can overlap the hexagons and also leave some white space too if you wish.
Now we need to highlight the girls. Putting some ink on my glass mat I like to pick it up with a water brush and colour the images lightly using the same colours. This keeps the palette subtle and not to busy.
Using a black micron pen I opened the eyes of Faith and put a border around the girls too.
For the next stage I used the little stamps from 'Soul Symbols' and 'Soul Whispers' to add some background patterns.
Finally I added words from 'Spread your Wings'. Below is an example of a small circular gel plate, waiting to be decorated.
Thank you for joining me today, I hope you have enjoyed this project and feel inspired too. We love to see your crafty makes on Facebook, so don't be shy!!
Wishing you all a happy crafty Thursday 😊
