Pretty in pink ...

Hello! Woohoo 4 days off so I thought I would bring you a journal cover using a round gel plate and Intense pencils to inspire you today...

I chose a spiral bound journal so that I can remove the covers to work on by simply opening the wires slightly inside the back cover and removing both covers.
Cut some fabric (I’ve used calico) about half an inch bigger than the actual cover.
Ink up the gel plate directly with distress oxides of your choice (I used Victorian Velvet and Weathered    Wood) and Breyer lightly to blend the colours midway. Stamp it onto the top half of the fabric.
Using a black Versafine ink pad, ink up and stamp the image onto the fabric as shown above. I used Just a girl and her forever friend
Using the Inktense pencils colour the image lightly, and also around the circumference of the circle. I would advise you to do all the colouring on dry fabric and then move onto the next stage.
The pencils are very faint on dry fabric as above but once water is added they will become more vibrant. Inktense pencils are an actual ink and will be permanent once dry. The fabric can be washed if the item is ironed on the wrong side.
Here you can see the difference where the water brush has been used on the left hand side only.
I added the little flower stamp from Lalliana Twinkle Toes, using versafine Clair in Purple Delight & Shady Lane, and enhanced the colours with Inktense pencils too.
Using some black cotton I stitched around part of the circle edge, boot laces and hair ties for interest.
To secure the fabric to the journal put some double sided tape on the journal cover as close to the edge as possible and extra in the centre.
Before attaching the fabric, use a sponge to colour the very top of the Journal cover with the weathered wood Distress Ink. Add the fabric carefully removing any wrinkles as you go. Trim close to the edge. TOP TIP: Add some clear drying glue around the side of the cover (I used cosmic shimmer) to prevent fraying.
Finally add white dots using a fine tip posca pen and add diamond Stickles on top. The little stars were embellished with gold glitter Sparkles too. It’s really hard to capture the twinkle in a photo!
Thank you for looking and if you have a go we would love to see your results. Have a lovely Easter and happy crafting 🧑
