Hello Lovelies, Ali here with my first post as part of Tracy’s design team family. I’m very excited to be part of Tracy’s journey and was thoroughly honoured when she asked me. In fact I did a happy dance! π
I thought I’d start off with this birthday card featuring the oh so lovely Morty Bottoms π and have done a couple of videos showing you some techniques to give a watercolour effect. I’ve made two quick videos, they’re not long so you won’t fall asleep! The first showing you how to do the background, which gives a beautiful watercolour effect. I love the softness this gives to the card. Then I’ve made another little video showing you how I coloured Morty himself. Now this was the tricky part as he is very ticklish and just wouldn’t stay still, but I got there in the end!! I’ve kept the colour palette simple with the blue, but used tiny pops of colour with the red hearts ♥️ Once I’d coloured Morty I simply cut him out and adhered him to the watercolour background and added a sentiment. It’s a great way to make a quick card that is really versatile. We all have those stamps we don’t use much but we can now make lots of lovely backgrounds with! Any of Tracy’s beautiful stamps would go perfectly on top, but Morty was the one shouting the loudest to be picked π he was my first stamp from the wee ones so he thinks that makes him my favourite!
I hope I’ve inspired you to have a go at the techniques and I’m looking forward to seeing your creations. Don’t forget you can use any colour you fancy. If you have any questions then please let me know and I’ll be happy to help π
You can find the first video for the background here

Thanks for taking the time to stop by, big hugs to you all.
Ali xx

DeleteHi Ali, congratulations on making it on to the DT, you must be buzzing still.
ReplyDeleteI adore this card & the simplicity & clean lines by using just the blue ink. I love to see Morty & his wee friends in full colour, but this shows that it can look fantastic either way & I love it.
Thanks for the great tutorial too
